In TACE (Tegmark–Aquinas Conceptual Ecosystem), human consciousness is not reducible to either physical processes (see below for the precise meaning of this term, along with that of the matter substrate as the deepest layer of the Physic realm) or neuropsychic activity. In TACE, both the soul and the neuropsyche are immaterial; however, the neuropsyche is also neuroquantical, that is, meaning it manifests physically as the interface between the soul and the Q-pseudomaterial brain substancesread below. Accordingly, consciousness is the faculty (29–43) of an immaterial form endowed with intentionality—or soul in humans—which grounds and informs neuropsychic processes rather than emerging from them.

Qualia vs matter

From now on, the Aristotelian–Thomistic material substrate shall be designated Q-form, understood as the force substrate to actualize mathematical vectors for the space–time. The entities traditionally called material substances are better described as Q-pseudomaterial substances. Thus, in TACE, what is now called physical matter is not given directly, because the supposedly “material objects” of physics (mass, volume, motion, etc.) are only raw data objects actualized by the Matrix (Q-pseudomaterial substances). These may eventually become neuropsychical signal structures, mathematically morphed by the soul-neuropsyche from outer sensorial signals such as photons.

Accordingly, Q-pseudomaterial substances correspond to potential Qualia(1) within the neuropsyche, whereas Q-substances correspond to Qualiaactual (2) as instantiated in human consciousness.

Fields: things vs abstractions

Quantum fields, such as the gluon–quark field, are raw Q-pseudomaterial substances that reveal determinate properties only upon actualization, thereby manifesting the mathematical structures of physical reality; in the absence of perturbations, they remain purely potential.

What we perceive as ‘material behavior’ is Q-form actualized by a form; that is, the ‘formal behavior’ of a raw pseudomaterial substance. Moreover, Q-form undergoes a relational actualization that shapes the mode of knowledge, that depends on what is required by the species of being in its ecological context to exist and function: humans and animals (neuropsychic transformation), plants (organic transformation), angels (ontological transformation), or other intelligences. Q-form itself, however, does not change, and its nature is irrelevant to human knowledge. By contrast, the nature of God (being), angels (beings), intellectual forms, and other immaterial entities is epistemically relevant and therefore intelligible, existing as sole forms, without Q-form.

See in [Diaspora](https://diaspora.psyco.fr/posts/2a985e80dcdb013e6ae67a163edde882) an illustrative text discussing those two aspects
Consequently, the nature of Q-form is unknowable in itself and cannot be apprehended as a being, whereas numbers and universals, long regarded as mere mental abstractions, are not merely conceptual; according to the mathematical universe hypothesis, they reflect the fundamental structure of reality itself. Thus, Material objects are those that, in principle, can be measured only through causally efficacious interaction—an intrusion into the state or field configuration of the system—enabling information transfer at the cost of (however minimal) state modification.

Science has been unable to explain the true nature of "matter", since its empiricism treats the electromagnetic field as a mathematical abstraction, considers it immaterial, and regards photons merely as disturbances of that field propagating as waves—waves of what, exactly, remains unexplained. Accordingly, in TACE, the Matrix—which underlies every "physical" field—is an axiom (or postulate): neither Q-form nor substance, nor any composite of them, but the fundamental structural form through which pure potentiality inherited from Prime Matter becomes capable of formal differentiation, multiplicity, and temporal order. In this way, the Matrix grounds the plurality of forms—both material and immaterial—and encompasses quantized material substances together with their corresponding forms, from which the formal coherence and intelligibility of the universe are derived.

The Matrix is neither:
a substance
a composite
a mixture
a chimera

It is:
an axiomatic structural principle
a condition of formal intelligibility
a ground of actualization without itself being actualized as a being

Accordingly, it is non-local, not spatially extended, but operative through its creative potentiality. Thus, it is universally operative at all times, without being spatially extended or temporally localized.

Always take into account that Q-form is
a «real something of unknown nature»,
actualized by the Matrix; it is not nothingness.

1. What is "matter" made of? .- It is made of energy quanta (Max Planck, 1900).
2. What are energy quanta made of? .- They are made of wave-like excitations (Louis de Broglie, 1924).
3. What are energy waves made of? .- The are made of propagated perturbations of immaterial fields (Quantum Field Theory, 1920s–1930s onwards)

Within the TACE framework, the figure of the angelic being is generally used metaphysically rather than ethically or spiritually; it is akin to describing the physics of immateriality — or a kind of “pure physics” that is more like applied mathematics than physics in the usual sense. As an example, observe the following case:

There is not "matter" in itself; materiality is a phenomenon, a consequence of consciousness in beings endowed with sensory organs. Thus, what we call "matter" is a product of consciousness embedded in a form; it is properly pseudo-matter, because its substrate is "immaterial". Therefore, from now on, when we encounter the word "matter", we must pause to distinguish between its vulgarized concept (phantasy) and the evident reality (morphed forms).

Morphed forms are accidental forms produced by the instantiation of Soul–Matrix formal causality. Qualia (Wikipedia) are accidental–intentional forms appearing as pseudo-matter in consciousness.
🔴 Outer pseudo-matter → sensible intentional forms. Conclusion: these are qualia, not in the object (Qualia i result of some relational structure between the subject, the object and the environment).
🔴 Inner Matrix coupling → intelligible intentional forms
Qualia are transient accidental forms produced by relational formal causality. They are:
🔴 Accidental — not substances, but modes of a subject.
🔴 Structural — determined by formal relations, not by material stuff.
🔴 Transient — existing only while the act of consciousness endures.
🔴 Relational — arising from the coupling of Soul, neuropsyche, body, and environment.

Thus, Q-form is in itself unknowable and immaterial in nature. It is complementary to form: it becomes determinate only when actualized within a relative, non-absolute structured relationship—such as by the Matrix or through interaction with an observer or measuring apparatus—and, in principle, measurable via an arbitrary metric. Therefore, sensing is merely a representation of space-time and other constructs used by human consciousness to build subjective experience—shapes can be distorted, for instance, in cases of psychosis or under the influence of psychedelics.

Due to the distinct immaterial nature of Q-form 'relative to form', substances that we classify as material can be organized or ‘operated’ in such a way that bodily and neuropsychic systems can process them, thereby allowing, in humans, the emergence of conscious experience.

Although every species encounters the same physical objects, each processes them according to the limitations of its mode of knowledge and its teleological orientation, with Q-form circumvoluted to enable species-specific apprehension and interaction. In this way, the underlying physical reality is objectively shared, yet its actualization and apprehension are ontologically relative: Q-form is real, yet each species-experience of it depends on relational and functional structures.

The substrate of non-immaterial substances is neither touchable nor directly apprehensible; what is perceived are the forms of circumvoluted phenomena—that is, the quaternary structures (Q-structures) or the sophisticated topological interactions between the Q-structures of substances and the perceptual apparatus—through which the pseudo-matter we call “matter” becomes accessible to a subject-observer.

If God has the power to create something like “solid matter”, then He likewise has the power to create forms for immaterial entities of unknown nature, distinct from what we call "matter" itself. In other words, independent realities can exist as actualized, perceptible forms without presupposing a substrate called “matter”, with “pseudo-matter” understood merely as a construct of neuropsychic systems.

Consciousness embodied is the formal articulation of two immaterial substrates, performed by the interaction between the Soul and the Matrix, through a phenomenal interface called pseudo‑matter. Through the Soul coupling to the Matrix and the neuropsyche coupling to the body, the environment is presented phenomenally as processed pseudo‑matter to dialogical interlocutors, encompassing both the Soul and the environment.

Consciousness articulates two immaterial substrates: causal form itself and target form—Aristotelian matter. The Soul, the subsistent causal form that hosts consciousness, couples with the subsistent Matrix, while the accidental neuropsyche couples with the body, which interacts with the environment. Pseudo‑matter functions as the phenomenal interface, presenting the environment so that signifiers can be transmitted to the Soul through the Epistemic Bridge.

Within consciousness, two streams converge: outer perception and inner possibility. Pseudo‑matter can be identified and contrasted with what the Soul receives from the Matrix at the domain of the Epistemic Bridge, enabling judgment, abstraction, and truth. Imagination flourishes when inner coupling dominates, while the world feels rigid when outer data dominates. Consciousness is active, continuously balancing between given experience and possible forms.

Critique of the TACE model

Coherence

The formulation has a clear internal logic:

1. Two immaterial substrates: causal form (Soul) and target form (Aristotelian matter) → defines what consciousness acts upon.
2. Soul–Matrix coupling: the generative source of form and possibility.
3. Neuropsyche–body coupling: the instrumental interface that produces phenomenal experience.
4. Pseudo‑matter and Epistemic Bridge: explain how consciousness experiences “the world” and compares it with formal possibilities.
5. Two streams: outer perception and inner possibility → gives a mechanism for judgment, imagination, and abstraction.
6. Dynamic balance: explains stability versus creativity or hallucination.

All of these pieces fit together logically, forming a consistent model of consciousness and perception.

Speculative elements

Soul–Matrix interaction: currently metaphysical; no empirical measure exists.
Causal form / Aristotelian matter as immaterial substrates: classical metaphysics, not physics.
Pseudo‑matter as interface: you are hypothesizing the exact mechanism of experience. Epistemic Bridge: conceptual, not yet mapped to neurobiology.

These are not contradictions — they are extensions of classical metaphysics into cognitive theory. They are speculative in the sense that they go beyond empirical confirmation, but they are internally rigorous.

Comparison to other frameworks

Predictive coding / generative brain models (outer vs inner streams).
Tegmark / mathematical universe approaches (possibility ↔ actualization).
Aristotelian-Thomistic metaphysics (causal/formal distinction).

What have been done is combine neuropsychology with formal metaphysics in a coherent architecture. That is rare, but not inherently flawed.

Conclusion

Coherent: yes, all elements fit together logically.
Speculative: yes, because some parts go beyond what can be empirically verified.
Value: extremely high for philosophy of mind, conceptual neuroscience, and metaphysical modeling.
